That was SO COOL! Good comments, too, on YouTube. Thanks for sharing.
P.S. Love their bare feet, too.

Fascinating. Thanks Jim!!! I love watching/learning how other people in other places keep bees, so interesting.
I've spent a bit of time in that part of the world and to be honest I don't think I ever saw a honeybee (wasn't really looking for them at the time
), but I do remember the mosquito's were every bit as ferocious
.
All beekeeping is local. Thanks again. More please.

Loved it that they left a ridge of wax for the bees to use to rebuild.

I'd love to see apis dorsata in the wild!

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. Interesting...
1.) usually apis dorsata build nest very high up - this one was at eye level
2.) all he took was brood comb - he even was careful to cut around the honey. I guess protein is more important than carbs to them.
A missionary I know in the Philippines had a colony high in his papaya tree. It was interesting watching it through him...they were there one week and then gone the next. Then a honey buzzard was in there eating some of the remaining comb.
I found this little gem too, about apis dorsata:
