Did NOT check the numbers or know how true
« on: June 29, 2011, 09:43:59 AM »
There are actually two messages here. The 1st is very interesting but the 2nd is absolutely astounding - and explains a lot.

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization.

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:
U.S. 65%
England 46%
Canada 42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment within six months:
U.S. 93%
England 15%
Canada 43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six months:
U.S. 90%
England 15%
Canada 43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month:
U.S. 77%
England 40%
Canada 43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people:
U.S. 71
England 14
Canada 18

Percentage of seniors (65+) with low income who say they are in "excellent health":
U.S. 12%
England 2%
Canada 6%

Check this last set of statistics!

The percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in the private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet. You know what the private business sector is…a real-life business, not a government job.

T Roosevelt ..........38%
Taft......................40%
Wilson ....................52%
Harding................49%
Coolidge................. 48%
Hoover .................42%
F Roosevelt.........50%
Truman.................50%
Eisenhower............57%
Kennedy..............30%
Johnson..............47%
Nixon.....................53%
Ford......................42%
Carter.....................32%
Reagan..................56%
GH Bush............. 51%
Clinton ...............39%
GW Bush.............55%

And the winner is:

Obama.............. 8%

This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration: only 8% of them have ever worked in private business!

That's right! Only eight percent---the least, by far, of the last 19 presidents! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations how to run their business? They know what's best for GM, Chrysler, Wall Street and you and me !!!

How can the president of a major nation and society, the one with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business when he's never worked for one? Or about jobs when he has never really had one? And when it's the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers? They've spent most of their time in academia, government and/or non-profit jobs or as "community organizers." They should have been in an employment line.
"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me . . . Anything can happen, child. Anything can be"

I am actually surprised that it's 8% for obama, I figured it to be around 3% myself.

How about these numbers:

Life expectancy in the US is in 36th place in the world.  Who’s ahead of us?  Cuba, Chile, Finland, Spain and a whole bunch more.

But how can that be when we’re spending SO much of GDP on our great health care system?

Oh yeah, the cost of health care vs GDP

Anybody else see a problem with these trends?  Anybody?

You get what you pay for.   It's like buying a car, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on that car, you going to get a Pinto.

Cuba!  Cuba is beating us in life expectancy.

We’re paying for a Cadillac and getting a Pinto.

If the current trends were to continue, we would be paying for a whole fleet of Cadillac’s and getting a Pinto.

Good thing we own General Motors Corporation  :-D

Cuba!  Cuba is beating us in life expectancy....

http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/world-rankings-total-deaths

Pat foot, pat foot, pat foot....

I did check the numbers and after some quick research I discovered that Cuba has a SHORTER life expectance than the USA.  See link above.  (this is not the only web sight with this information BTW.)

Cuba also has a much lower death rate from highway accidents since almost no one in Cuba owns a private automobile.  Cuba has a lower incidence of obesities related disease because Cuba rations basic food items.  Cuba has a low insidence of dangerous drug addiction because the free market in drugs is not intrested in selling durgs to a people who lack the means to buy drugs. One other thing about Cuba that the left likes is that Cuba has strict gun control laws.  The left claims gun violence is epidemic in the USA, then that would mean that homicides in Cuba would be non existan (they aren't.) In addition Cuba uses a much different method to record live births and a self serving criteria to treat high risk or premature infants.  In Cuba these children are allowed or encouraged to die and are never carried on the books as living human beings, all this skews the life expectancy tables in Cuba’s favor.  I could go on but I will let it stand here.  Lets compare oranges to oranges, or apples to apples, not pomegranates to tangerines.
