American Honey Whiskey

I think that one of the things that I would like to make with my honey, if I actually get to harvest some this season is my own version of American Honey.  I'm looked around the internet, and all I can seem to find for honeyed whiskey recipes are for a cough medicine that also includes Lemon juice. 
I was wondering if anyone has made there own mix of whiskey and your own honey for a sipper on cool autumn evenings?  What ratio do you use?

Do a search for Mead. It is a process in fermenting honey. Not sure if this helps.

Have seen recipe,,1 quart of honey, 1-1/2 gal of water, ferment, distil

I think this is more on the line of what your looking for.  I think if I was to try it I would desolve the honey in maybe heated vodka or everclear.  I would use a strong flavored honey and experiment adding alittle at a time.  I would want the finished product to have the flavors but not be syrup
