whats your favorite criitter guards. deer, rabbits, ect..............i dont have anything now but im backed up to fields and woods. need to get prepared.

.22 shooting Aguila Super Colibri. Very very quiet. Quiet and slow. Will not kill the deer, just change their mind about your yard. I use it on squirrels.

I believe the only guard beeks place on their hives are mouse guards in the Fall. I never heard of any other sort of guard for the bee hives. For skunks, you just have to raise the hives up off the ground a certain number of inches (not sure how high). I don't know about the other critters. I had a problem with raccoons last year and one hive got thrown over by them. (it was a small hive)so I ended up placing very heavy bricks on top and don't have any more problems with them.

I installed my electric bear fence before I installed my bees. Proper wire spacing would address some of the other mammals if necessary.

Bees are on a pier over a lake. Herons, 'coons and 'possums are a problem. I have rat traps on the pier in front of the hives - scares everything off.

One thing you can do is to use fur from your (or your friends) dog. When combing them, collect the fur, stuff the fur in nylon stockings (you can get the sock size ones as well). Tie a ball about 2 inches in diameter and tie the ball to bushes and trees. The smell should keep critters (like deer) away. You do need to replace them every now and then when the smell wears off.
