Wow, that was a big hive!  How was your survival rate using the bee vac on such a hot day for such a long job?  I know I've heard you say in the past that you don't like to use the vac when it's really hot out.

I love the fortune-cookie squinting! And the Chinese music at the end. And the scream at the time of the between-the-eyes sting. And everything else. Smiley

I am using pool vacuum hoses now thanks to Schawee. They are really fantastic, large interior and smooth. Also added regulators to my Walter Kelly's and survival rate is extremely high. I'd say less than a 1% loss, which is phenomenal for any bee vac.

Good job guys. I would think the pounds would just melt off you two with all the heat and humidity down there, don't know how  manage to keep up your girlish figures?  grin .

So, schawee did you trim the combs to keep them horizontal in the frames, like you taught me  evil, or did you follow the slope of the roof line?

Husky guy regards.    ....Don

For a coonass, got to say, Schawee is kind of a picky eater!  grin I brought him to Wholefoods for the grilled shrimp wrap. He wanted the chinese buffet but I talked him out of it.  Wink

I told him we were gonna eat good, he insisted I tell him what we were eating, then I had to tell him what was in the wrap. Then he had to ask the cook what was in it as well!

Long story short, two days later we're talking on the phone and he says "when we going back for another shrimp wrap?" Said it was all he was thinkin' about!  grin

Another great lesson Video
Ouch on the between the eyes although it seems you didn't
look to Chinese eyed from it,but thats what might have given
you the craven (thinking you would look like Daniel Son's Mentor)

1% man that's good I have only done a few with vacuum
The vacuum really puts a hurt-en on the bees
I was looking at clear smooth hose at Ace Hardware
I guess I will go too the pool supply
I really try to limit the suction but in your videos,It seems you really are picking them up
and @1% loss shocked I barley get them picked up(low volume suction) and my loss is 50%
I was just saying I may not vac no longer with this type loss
Now back to the drawing boards
I also just built a Robo clone opposed to a box containment and see you use a containment Vac
Decisions,decisions

Thanks for the Video

Tommy, bees off comb are much easier to vacuum than bees on comb. Ones on comb seem to dig in for dear life!

I have all kinds of hoses, one, a smooth one I purchased from an industrial hose supply warehouse. Works ok, but very heavy!

Schawee, Hardwood and JP now only use pool vacuum hose.
