July 30th is the date of the annual picnic hosted by Penn Apic and Pennsylvania Backyard Beekeepers Association. The picnic is open to ALL beekeepers, family, and friends. Nature trails, open bee yards, hay loft swing, honey contest, open pit chicken and a pig roast await you. Additional details as they become available will be posted on the PennApic website. www.pennapic.orgCamping and tenters are encouraged on the farm. An evening social on Friday for those staying over and driving in the night before the picnic. We anticipate close to 200 folks this year. So this is a great place to rub elbows, chat about bees, and have a blast. This is family oriented, so bring the kids. Hope to see you there.

Thank you buzzbee. Shane, I'm not sure if we ever had anyone from Virginia. Maryland, Ohio, New York...but I can't think of anyone from Virginia. So drive on up and be the first!

Hey, we''ll be there I'm not sure about driving to see me.Your picnic stands well on it's own. With the numbers you had last year, lets just say thanks for the invitation. . Any other forum members attending?Don't be afraid to post a hello and yeas I'm planning on attending. I kinda wish I had time to drive down Friday evening, but with working at the track,it would be awful late and I want to be rested. Are you cooking the pig Mike?

Thanks Ken. No, I'm not the cook...at least not the pig. The pitmasters every year are Duke & Jodi Penneycoff from Colgan Station. You know them. They will be coming down Friday and staying over. We got a 150 pounder. Hope to see others there also.

Hey all! i had a good time at the picnic.I got to talk to quite a few familiar faces and spent time talking to several others. it was a great day and a great event to attend. I attended more as a casual observer to see what it was all about, but ultimately decided to join the group. To all the PA beekeepers, check them out. And if nothing else, plan on attending one of these picnics if you are able. You will not be dissapointed!! I hope next year I can venture down Friday evening if it all works out. The early get together sounded like a lot of fun too!! Duke and Jody the pit masters for the bbq pig drove over two hours,as did my wife and I.Well worth the drive. Thanks for the invite Mike!!
