So I got a swarm call about bees in front of a K-Mart store....they were flying everywhere and customers couldnt get in the store.....when I called the women back to let her know I was on my way, She said they had landed.....on the pavement! Well I show up and wouldnt you know it, someone called the local TV station...... check out the link...they did a good job. Not sure who the "expert' was that they called though lol http://www.wtae.com/news/28060708/detail.html?taf=pit

Good Job. Now that is the image that we would like to portray as bees and beekeeps.

I am very proud of you as you did such a good job showing that the bees are peaceful. I agree with the other posts that we need more pr like this. Thank you for posting this.

How cool is that?! I like that you were as calm as the bees...a calm and informative honeybee ambassador.

Thanks all! that was a fun... and interesting swarm retrieval. i did get one sting as I was cleaning up....right on the bridge of the nose The T-shirt came from Betterbee. It say Honey BEE Buy Local honey they also sell one taht says Honey BEE support your local beekeeper. I like it I checked on the swarm today and the queen was in the Nuc and they were drawing comb.... she's a nice looking queen. Ill post pics later when I finally slow down for a day or two! Oh and they did all fit in the Nuc even though it didnt seem like it! they cover about 4 frames in the Nuc! Thanks again for all your comments... Im really glad they ran with the positive spin instead of how dangerous bees can be! On the flip side... check out this video also from the same Pittsburgh area but different TV.....actually aired the day before.....the guy in the video......well...Ill let him speak for himself...... especially the last 30 seconds....... http://www.wpxi.com/video/28053392/index.html

Is that the KMart that is at Route 30 and Route 48? If so, I worked just a few miles away from there when I was a teenager! Excellent job taking care of business. And...Go Stillers!!!

Yes that k-mart is at 48 and 30.... Go stillers the the comment about if you make em mad they will kill you.... drives me nuts..... the guy in the video is a local pest control guy who has a knownn history of killing honeybees..... including swarms..... just thought Id post the second video as an example of how people can take honeybees the wrong way...just with ONE sentence..." you make em mad they will kill you" versus video like what JP and Schawee do... and the coverage I got that actually explain honeybee behaviour and how docile they can be.....why intimidate folks but dresseing looking like you are going on the moon and makingthe fact that you may die while handling bees part of the story?! Anyway, thanks for the comments......Hope all enjoy their holiday weekend and prayers to those families whose loved ones gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy our freedoms.... like catching swarms
