bee club meeting

the townsville bee club meeting at the clare rifle range was beaut. everyone was encouraging and eager to share info. we looked into some hives there and most were full of fresh honey, lovely clear yellowy with a delicate tang. BUT what surprised me was the size of the bees, compared to mine they were huge. the joke was that i had been sold asian honey bees, but as their president had sold me the hive the suggested solution was that my brood wax was old so i was breeding smaller workers. I'm transitioning to foundationless so it will be interesting to see what size I get in 6 months.  the hives we looked in were on plastic foundation.
