Thanks for allowing me to join.
I want a hive of bees on our ranch to help nature and maybe get a little honey now and then. Hopefully replace some of the CCD loss with assistance from this forum.

Hello and Welcome!
This forum is a good place to learn more about bees and beekeeping. Be sure to check out the tutorials on the main Beemaster page ("Backyard Beekeeping Course"). Check your local library for books/videos on beekeeping. Buy some beginner's books. Read, read, read. There are many excellent online sites. Two that I often recommend:

100 Online lessons:

Lastly, get involved with a local club. Clubs are great places to find mentors and get connected to nearby beekeepers:
