I like doing cut-outs, but I love catching swarms!

I have been giving Suzie, owner of Golden Bee Products input on designing a jacket. I will be picking mine up in a few hours. One of the biggest changes will be with the veil, IMO a much needed change, one that allows for much more visibility.

I don't own an Ultra Breeze jacket so I can't compare the two jackets personally but have the full suit of each company and both are nice.

So there you go, hope this helps.

My suit is the guinea pig of suits and she is tweaking it to suit my tastes just a little bit more, just some minor changes really.

Suzie will have a finished jacket soon for me to do a you tube with.

I am very excited about this jacket.

Video coming soon!

Is there a pocket in the new jacket for your little red umbrella?   I am thinking that is a must!

So letting it out around the middle is now called tweaking? Are you sure you want to hold to it just being minor changes? Wink

Sorry, I just had to go there. LOL

let us know.  as much as i like my jacket for comfort and stuff, the visibility is an issue. hanging over a hive is no big deal, but odd angles are where i run into problems.

don't know if you are old enough to have thought of this....but some kind of drop down reading glass visor thingy would be cool!   grin

I'm interested as well. I was leaning towards the ultra breeze but will hold off until I see this one.

Price and quality.   That is what matters.  Hopefully we will hear about both.

Since I do alot of cut outs I think JP is the right subject for teating this jacket. Durability is my main criteria as a cut out jacket will get far more wear and tear than a jacket used only for inspecting hives. A couple items on a jacket that I would like to see. If it has a chest pocket(s) I like to have a flap to keep out debris when working overhead, it needs to be large enough to be functional as well, think pack of cigarettes (yes, I have that nasty habit) a notepad or camera/PDA cellphone), and should also have a pen/pencil slot. If it is going to have lower pockets as well more flaps please and of a large enough size to serve more than a place to frustrate you. This is my main complaint with the mann lake economy I currently use. Lower pockets are not a requirement though as they can hang up going up and down ladders if they are loose or flopping around. Just if they are there make them functional. Flaps would also serve to keep things in the pocket as well, especially when bending over. Another area of concern is the elastic at the wrist since I prefer to work bare handed. Stretched and loose sleeves at the wrist are a no no as I am quite sure you can imagine. Maybe a velcro closure or cuff? This is also a wear point when reaching into cavities so pay attention here. Maybe a short section of canvas? The waist elastic is of a lesser concern but the length needs to be long enough to not ride up on a 6'2" frame like mine (folks are growing taller these days). Ideally it should rest somewhere around the top of the hip even when reaching up overhead. No preference but I've often wondered if a band of elastic (3") like is seen on many cool weather jackets might be better than the usual half inch elastic.
The zippers of course need to be of the best quality with the pulls easily worked by a gloved hand.
There's my input for what it's worth.

I spoke with Suzie an hour ago and told her you guys are anxious to see a video on the new jacket and that she needs to get it made soon!

A few things I can share now: David, you don't have to worry about the jacket riding up on your belly, it will sit below your waist and when bending over, you don't have to be concerned with bees flying in at your lower back, which is just awesome!

The veil will stay put and you can see very well through it, did I say it stays put!

I will still be able to wear a baseball cap under it and by far the best feature is it stays put no matter what you do, hand stands, doesn't matter!  grin

Pockets will be deep and rugged, and there will be a place to put your hive tool!

More to come!

I'd love to figure out a way to blow my nose while I have the veil on. There's something about bending over into a box full of pollen that makes my nose run like crazy.

I want a jacket this season, too, JP, and the JP model sounds great (I like the "guinea-pig version" in your video). But my bet is that Suzie's not set up to produce too many of these at a time, right?

I spoke with Suzie this evening and will try to stop by and pick the jacket up tomorrow when/if  Emil and I are able to take a break from tomorrow's cut out.

I will ask her about output Liz. If you like it and want to order one, I'll put in a good word for ya!  Wink

Liz, I was with Suzie today and pulled up this post on her computer. She told me she has at least four people right now making her suits and jackets with the capability of pulling even more people in, so according to her, you should be more than able to get you one this season.

Hold on just a lil longer folks, the video is coming. I should be picking up the final product some time tomorrow.
