cap board

Several years ago i was visiting a old time beekeeper and i saw these little wedge shaped small cap boards. I ask what they were for. He said to put one under the back side of the supers, when you break the burr comb, so the bees can clean up the dripping honey before you take it off the hive.

yes it makes a big diferance-but we do not use any boards-we just break the boxes apart
and leave them in place on the hive-we do this day before we pull -bees clean up the mesy bur comb
that ieaks honey otherwise-how thick where these boards-where they like shims ?? gota be careful
not to start robing in the late season-RDY-B

rdy-b these were wedge shaped about 4 in long x 1 in wide x 2 in high down to 0. He would put a few of these on several hives . The first hive would be clear of honey from broken burr. I would not put them on a hive that was to weak to defend its self. I have not used this systrm so i don't know completely how he used thise. He ran about 750 hives so it must have worked for him.
