Varroa and amitraz

At one time, amitraz was "approved for the purpose" of controlling varroa mites. What was the recipe?  How was it applied?  Thanks

  yes it was approved in the form of strips-just like the strips they are using in canada
  there was a law suit brought on from Bell Honey -and the manufacture pulled it from the market-the
section 18 ran out and was never reuped-after apistan (fluvalenate) and check mite (comaphos)
and even formic acid there is not much hope for anymore section 18-which is a shame because the treatments
available have many problems-amitraz would have been a better pick-it is now used off label for many years
but it also has surcome to a resistance problem for many keepers that have been using for many years
there are several recipes for amitraz that pertain to tactic-mixed with oils and used with shop towels or with
crisco and cardboard coasters much like the way thymole is applied are you planing to use Amitraz -or are you just curious
it is a tabbo subject -but in commercial circles it has keep many a beekeeper from closing there doors-if you are of hobby caliber i would suggest one of the soft treatments avalible-the one i am looking for is the new formic treatment -miteaway quick strips wich will kill varoa under the cap and can be used during honey flow-should be out soon RDY-B
