We just got through with a bunch of rain Ken. Had two swarm calls yesterday, late evening but couldn't go because of an early wedding we had to attend. They just might be there still today though, we'll see.

It should really be on now!

Aww man,
I really have the swarm envy JP. However, with the mild winter we had and early blooms ,I am more optimistic of swarms here. :)

Well yesterday I set up my apiary. Got all the stands leveled and a hive set for each of my packages.
Today I'm gonna get a couple of extra boxes for each hive moved out there and stacked, as well as a few tops and bottoms just to be ahead of the game.

I need to buy/build a cart or wagon. Its almost exactly 100yds from my front door to my first hive but it about wore me out toting stuff back there. Don't even want to think about supers of honey coming the other way by hand  ;)

Must say I agree with Mr. Bush. Leveling hives sucks. My next set of stands will have a threaded rod setup so I can do it quick and easy just by turning a wrench.

Drinking my last cup of coffee before I head out. My bees arrive tomorrow :-D. I think I'm ready, I am going to check the level on my hives one last time today as we have had some rain and I want to see if they are settling any.

Well the bees got here early. Posted a thread on how that went. Now I sitting here drinking coffee waiting on it to get warm enough for me to see some bees in the entrances. I guess the newness will wear off at some point but as of right now I can't wait for them to start flying.

It never wears off...not for me anyway!

Scott
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Me neither.  I can sit in front of a hive all day.  There's a downtown building in Corsicana that has bees in a blocked window.  I cannot get the owner to call me back on my offer to get them.  Anyway, every time I walk by it I look up at the bees coming and going for a while, Seeing that they're bringing in pollen and getting a count of goings and comings.  It always seems some other folks will stop and look up with me and then ask, "What are we looking at?".

Got up at 6, made the coffee and headed out to the hives lol. Set there drinking my coffee and waited until they got up ;). Sat in my apiary most of the day yesterday and will prob do it again today. Every time I thought I would go do something else for an hr or so it turned into 15 minutes then i was back out there watching them orientate by the thousands it seemed anyhow.

Today we celebrate our Lord and Savior conquering death, hell and the grave! He sufferd such a horrific death for you and I. God's Word says He was beaten more than any man and His appearance after that beating was unrecognizable. He took so much for us, so we could live and reign in Heaven with Him. He loves us that much and more. Today, this glorious Easter day, would be a wonderful time to accept Him into your life if you haven't already done so. He is risen for you and the whole world! The resurrection gives your life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what your circumstances may be or what you may have done. In Christ, you become a NEW creation, old things are passed away, behold all things become new! HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! I thank God for all of my friends and family, and for this forum in order for me to spread the message of the Gospel each day to all of you. Thanks for reading my post when ever you can or if you do. I hope that I can at least reach one person each day for HIS glory!

Thanks
Rbinhood

Thinking about not going to work today. Would rather spend another day sitting beside the hives. I'll go, though I will sit here and think about not going for a while :-D

Saw all 10 hives bring in at least some pollen yesterday, need to check the feeders when I get home.

Me neither.  I had Friday off of work and it's hard to go back to work after the long weekend.  My wife and I went out and saw Robert Earl Keen Saturday night.  It was a good time.  Did a cutout from an upside down protein tub yesterday afternoon.  It was in a neighbors equipment barn next to a stack of alfalfa hay.  His grandkids were playing on the hay a few weeks ago.  One fell off and landed on the tub sending the bees into a frenzy.  The child was fortunate to have only a few stings.  Made a mess of the comb.  I'll try and post some pics later today.

Went to look at my bees before work. Dang cold natured girls wouldnt come out and play just because it is 40 degrees. Gonna have to wait until tonight to get my fix :-P.

Did a quick look inside yesterday evening, just to check feeders. None needed more but 5 of the 10 are building comb on the covers. Gonna have to scrape that all off this weekend when I do my first full inspection.

Next couple days are going to suck a little. I've gotten used to the nice warm weather and now we back down to freezing at night   :(

I've had a major bad week.  I was stuck in west Texas all week.  I met a tower crew at our farthest out western point just north of Van Horn, TX.  It's a barren and wasteland of a place.  Wednesday evening my fuel pump in my truck gave out and I was stuck there.  Cell phone doesn't even work out there.

Fortunately for me, the tower crew showed up at about 6pm (6 hours late).  We loaded all the gear off their trailer and, using large tie down straps, slowly winched my truck up on their trailer.  It took about 6 and 1/2 hours to get my truck to the Ford dealer in Midland.  They got the fuel pump replaced and I got my truck back this morning.  I had to stop in Brownwood, TX to refuel.  That's when I realized that the mechanic forgot to hook up the hose from the gas cap to the gas tank.  What a mess.  I got it fixed myself after apologizing to the attendant for all of the gas spilled on the concrete.

Stopped to look at my bees when I got home.  Made a bunch of it go away.  Man, is it good to be home.  Gonna hold my honey a little tighter toight.

BeyondTSW, do they charge extra at your dealership to connect the hose from the gas tank to the cap?  You got a laugh out of me with that post!  I’ve never heard of that one happening before.  I suppose you’re lucky the EPA didn’t haul you off to jail for spilling a gallon of gasoline on the pavement.  I seem to recall some warning on that gas pumps here in MI about being in big trouble if you spill a drop.
