I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning.

 

He told me that a woman in her 20’s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy. She stated “my momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family.” He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family.

 

The scam goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care.

 

The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois . Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly “Linx” card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs. Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the “breadwinner” in the family.

 

I hope you share this story with your contacts so they know how the ruling class spends your tax dollars.

as at least one poster suggest this all looks a bit manufactured.  I would not be really surprised to see any number of the detail of the short letter to be in fact over blown.  any doctor that reports to the media in regards to a patient is not operating on a very high ethical level... in fact this might be illegal and could lead to a doctor loosing his license.  why would a doctor risk all that to send some letter to a heroin addict/radio talk show celebrity?

certainly not true before HIPAA and probably  not now.  while the HIPAA rules are pretty tight, as long as there are not patient identifiers there's probably no problem.  if the woman recognized herself in the story and wanted to make an issue of it, she probably could....might not be smart.

you might be right.  why don't you work on proving it.  you have a lot of surprises and might be in there.

This particular scam has been reported numerous times long before this Dr's comments. Where there's smoke there's usually fire. These folks also practice the old child switch scam in which one woman will "borrow" young children from others to go sign up for entitlements. No mysteries here. Lyndon Johnson's Great Society programs were just a start for scams that doomed us to forever pay for those who will suck taxpayers dry with no remorse. When I was in the Navy, my squadron adopted a Vietnamese family, found them a home and furnished it, plus food in unbelievable quantities. The father had been a printer in SVN and we found him a good job with a local yearbook printing firm. He found out that welfare in LA County would pay him more to stay home than his job paid. One night they rented a truck, packed all the donated furniture, clothing, TV's etc and moved to LA. Hah! New entitlement family, with a bunch of kids to teach the value of "make the sucker taxpayers support us." Anyone who doesn't believe these things actually happen, and happen often, is living in a dream world. Watch the folks paying with WIC at the grocery store, follow them out, and observe the vehicle they're driving. Betcha it's nicer than the one you drive; but be thankful, you help them make the payments.

It makes me wonder how life would be if I got to keep 14% ss tax for myself and the what 4% medicare tax also.  Get rid for fica and the befits altogether.  I would have so much more.   Then on the other hand, all the users out there would have to take care of themselves.   They would have to get some type of job (farm labor or construction away from the ills)  and then pay taxes also.   Maybe they would live a healthier live and there would be no need for Obama care.   The results could be endless.

So this urologist is also an ER doc?!?

This looks like total baloney. In WI, the MONTHLY reimbursement for foster parenting ranges from $349 to about $400/child. This sounds like a load of bull that you bought too easily.

Yep, looks like total bull to me too. $1400 a month, lol. Not that there aren't plenty of people out there on welfare that are just too depressed (or addicted to drugs) to work or look for a job, boo hoo. System is messed up, bad. Our society is failing miserably. We need a new party, and it isn't the Tea Party.

Government employees are mostly in unions, and it's so hard to fire one that most managers don't even try anymore. People come in late to work, leave early, refuse to do work they don't like, etc. On the other hand, getting people that can do the job well requires paying market level salaries, and many government entities don't do that either...so they end up with twice the staff and 40% higher labor costs. We are drowning in our own stupidity.

can't speak to the truth of the post, but it's not uncommon for specialists to see patients in the ER especially if they are already in house.  urologists and pregnancy go together often.  a bladder or kidney infection symptoms can mimic the onset of labor and an infection in a pregnant woman is not desireable...even though they seem to be common.

Look, economics 101:  subsidize something and you will get more of it, i.e. unemployment benefits now as long as 99 weeks in some states and look were the unemployment rate is.  Pay women who have babies out of wedlock to stay home and care ()  for their kids and look where the out of wedlock pregnancies rate is.

Somehow the compassion and generosity of the average American for those at the bottom of society has been turned into a free lunch by many (not all). The "Great Society" programs of the 1960s and 70s have  failed miserably and only  made the problems they set out to solve worse. The numbers tell the story.

Whether or not this particular story is factual or not is irrelevent.  That type of fraud does exist, if on a much more meager level.

I'd say that what is going on in France is exactly where we are going.

And yet we insist that that path is where we need to be.

Public welfare and public education are a failure (or getting to be that way) exactly because the government is taking over responsibility for children, and the parents are letting them have it.  The children grow up without being taught responsibility.

Sad, but I don't see it changing.  Classes are created with the poor dumb people not taught responsibility, and the leaders who are happy to take the reigns, take the power, profit from it all while driving the country to hell.  Welcome to france.
