Henry Fonda and Martha Stewart.
Although Peter Fonda played the part of beekeeper in Ulees gold, his father was the beekeeper of the family.
Bees at the White House? The Obamas do not keep the bees, they actually were set there by groundskeeper Charlie Brandt(not so famous).

Peter Strauss had beehives in his citrus groves for a few years. Didn't see them last time I drove by, but I saw Peter. Much better in real life than TV. He was covered with dust, wearing jeans and an old hat, and HOT. Rugged, even. Looked to be in early 50s though he's 63. I had no idea.

Brigham Young, John the Baptist

I don't know if I'd include John the Baptist with that company. "Honey-eater" doesn't equal "beekeeper".

He eventually retired to Sussex and became an etymologist specializing in Bees. He invented the idea of marking bees with tiny drops of paint so he could study their movements -- an approach that is really used today. He also discovered that bee stings help with arthritis.  But this was after he was brought back to life after people complained when he was killed off.  He supposedly fell to his death at the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland during a fight with his arch-enemy Moriarty. But because the readers complained Conan Doyle had to bring him "back from the dead" by pretending that only Moriarty had died and that Holmes had temporarily disappeared to avoid other enemies. Cool huh?

Okay--are we talking about fictional Sherlock or real-life Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?

often forgotten in beekeeping lore..... John Dzierzon who pennned the Dzierzon Theory and as stated in my very old abc-xyz  'and thus in reality laid the foundations for much of our scientific and practical knowledge of bees'.

he also invented a very early version of a moveable frame hive which are still used to some degree in Germany today.

My husband's aunt lives in Ukraine, and I was super impressed with this guy! I didn't follow his politics all the way through, but just his determination to press on despite nearly dying and being horribly disfigured was really amazing. I shouldn't be surprised he is a beek! What better qualities?

The much celebrated beehives in the Obama's White House garden are being kept in violation of the law. The DC Municipal Regulation (DCMR) 904.1 prohibits such a hive within DC.

Federal property in the District is not governed by municipal law.  DC was created to prevent any state or local political body from manipulating the Federal government.  Based on the polls, I'd say you should get used to those bees for the next term.
