I believe that this skyline is possible.  I really don't think that the Muslim "capital" (just the headquarters for their church) will be in NY.  I am betting on Detroit.  By I can see Sharia law in effect in the US.  2 sets of laws.   Just as in Europe.
With the NY skyline.  We don't have a right to limit where they can build, but building so close to ground zero is bad taste.   And they teach that they do have a right to lie to non muslims.

I think some states see sharia law as a type of arbitration that is contractually binding.  however, the Constitution prevents sharia courts from having any real legal power as their law forces the religion held into the law and those who supposedly must adhere to it.

Where actual law is concerned, The government, including the court system, cannot push a religious POV.

There are several religions that practice some type of religious community courts that are viewed as arbitration but cannot and do not supercede state or federal law.

true, but...

what they want is a dual court system.  http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/08/sharia_law_in_canada_and_brita.html

we keep saying "it can't happen here" but a lot of things have been happening here that are not constitutional.  when you hunt do you charge through the woods toward your target, or do you lay in wait, sneaking closer as you get the opportunity?

"Nay, it [this constitution of government] must perish, if there be not that vital spirit in the people, which alone can nourish, sustain, and direct all its movements. It is in vain, that statesmen shall form plans of government, in which the beauty and harmony of a republic shall be embodied in visible order, shall be built up on solid substructions, and adorned by every useful ornament, if the inhabitants suffer the silent power of time to dilapidate its walls, or crumble its massy supporters into dust; if the assaults from without are never resisted, and the rottenness and mining from within are never guarded against. Who can preserve the rights and liberties of the people, when they shall be abandoned by themselves? Who shall keep watch in the temple, when the watchmen sleep at their posts? Who shall call upon the people to redeem their possessions, and revive the republic, when their own hands have deliberately and corruptly surrendered them to the oppressor, and have built the prisons, or dug the graves of their own friends?

– Justice Joseph Story, "Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States," Volume II, Chapter XIII: Mode of Passing Laws, Sections 900-901, pp. 364 (1833)

mind you,  I am in no way supporting the idea of it.

Personally,  I am with the state of Oklahoma folks who want to put it out front that no way, no how will sharia be accepted in any form in the state.

I hope my state does the same,  i will be right there to support that.

I am just going on recent readings.
