He doesnt "he-man," he just has a lot of work. He now takes both chain saws with him, the Wild Thing and the Chinese one. When one breaks down he moves on to the other. He sharpens the chains regularly. Really doesn't want me buying him a third chain saw, so he claims he's found the problem with the Wild Thing. So now I'm torn between buying him the Stihl Farm Hand (dealer is close by) and buying myself a new video camera.

Yes. Chaps, boots, ear and eye protection . My primary heat is a woodstove so I cut a lot of wood.

I'm kinda fond of the big old McCulloch's.  They are heavy as a bear but will cut through anything you have a mind to.  (Pam calls them my "Man Saws".)  Since they are rare these days, I'd say a Stihl or Husq.  would be a good choice.  Definitely get one that can be serviced in your area.

I don't care if you are buying a chainsaw, guitar or motorcycle.  If you don't spend enough money to get to get something that is quality and well supported you will be paying even more in the future.  In almost all retail buying experiences there are three choices.  The cheap and crappy,  the middle of the road and the ridiculously expensive.  9 out of 10 times your best value will be "middle of the road".

Stihl and Husqvarna are also my choice...   If you shop online you can save about 20 to 30% on a new one...   I have a Husqvarna farm tough 20 and my buddy has a stihl...   I like 'em both...   Tell him to trade the two beaters on a quality saw and you'll pay the difference...
