Hi everyone, I have been reading through this forum for almost a week now in my spare time, and I must say that I am very impressed with the people who frequent this site and their knowledge........... AND, that JP, he and his partner of the day are way too cool.
Currently, and for the past 25 years I have been a concrete contractor, and for the last five years have been looking for another line of work. Dealing with employees, other contractors, and just a lot of people in general I have to deal with frequently really got me to look for something else. I wanted to do something that just depended on me, no more counting on employees and other people so that I can do my thing so to speak.
Now, I am a second year beek. Started with 2 hives last year, one made it over the winter, one didn't. This year, I wanted to work 12 hives, but am up to 14 hives thanks to two swarm captures. Next year, I want to have at least 50 if I can keep a decent survival rate over the long winter. If that works out, who knows how many I will have in five years. This is the greatest vocation out there. I sure wish I would have discovered it a long time ago as it seems these fuzzy, nasty stinging, honey and pollen collectors are way more fun to deal with than most people these days. AND I don't have to count on just me!!!!!
I am looking forward to spending countless hours on this forum in the future.
Everyone have a Great Day!!!!!!
