Going Big Gaming to get a good Media Computer

So I look at the media computers ( I have a Media Edition Computer just 3 years old, but it's buggy and I just want to get more bells and whistles for my buck )

There are faster, better PCs out there, but I'm not going to spend $5000 for a PC no matter what it does, even if my gaming interests are spiked a bit, it is Video Editing of my HD Camera content and watching streaming media from the net in the best smoothest resolution.

Here is the machine I'm seriously looking at. The single main feature was the HDMI out from the 1gig video card, the rest is processor power, storage, fast RAM and all the stuff that will make it a great affordable ($1196.00) gaming/media machine.



What I am missing that I see is Wireless Ethernet Connection and it is pretty big (about 25% bigger than most PC towers) The silly color lights don't interest me, I can turn them off at a switch. I'll include the Youtube Video from Cnet and others first:

So, serous spec nerds, you think it is worth the price? Or should I wait out the USB 3.0 which is popping up around and a wireless connection choice. I think it is a whopper for the price range, compared it out to some others that were at least a grand more that were extremely similar. All feedback appreciated.

i have been looking at the MSI computers.  they are making systems and not just parts.  TD carries them.  i'm more interested in a laptop, but the price comparison for the laptops makes them the better deal in most ways.  don't know if that holds true for desktops.

Looks great John. Too bad no one in the computer industry sets things up where you could"test drive" one for a couple days. These are usually investments people have for a few years..
Sadly,I don't know if I've ever seen a money back satisfaction guarantee,even if only for 10 days or so.I know a lot of places set up the surround sounds in a room with a big screen so you can listen to the different systems. Maybe they could do something like this with a computer?

This is where some of us local gamers have been looking at buying from. The first link for digital storm is probably the best. The last computer I priced was just over $5,000 and you could not get anything better for a long time. Whats nice about both sites is you build your own so your not paying for stuff you really dont want. I wish you good luck in your search and hope you give us an update on what you buy.

Yeah.... the $5000 was NOT an option, I'm not THAT much of a gamer, although blown away by it, I stink at it. It would be not advantageous to spend anything beyond going for a good machine that multi-purposes. The high end Media machines really don't offer 1gig video interestingly enough - not standardized cause not overly needed.

But going a gig video makes sense to me - since the difference from 256Meg and 528meg is night and day, doubling that is a HUGE spread to buy myself elbow room for tech growth. I do like the fast processors and the DDR3 CPU and DDR5 video ram - plus being 64 bit, seems about 5 times faster than anything I have. Worth the money for sure.
