Plans for an 8 frame langstroth hive
«

Hi everybody,
I was wondering if anybody has any plans for an 8 frame hive? I have found the 10 frame plans on beeresource.com but i want to build everything with 8 - i forgot to mention i need the Australian dimensions (apparently there are differences between the US dimensions and the Oz dimensions)
Kind regards
Oz

Hi OzBuzz; the only difference for the 8 frame hives is the width; 13 3/4"=350mm. I thought you guys use the same inches we do!

Oh i was waiting for the 'same unit of measure' comment
nah, we use special inches!
So is that 13 3/4 inches internal width? so it would be 13 3/4 plus the timber thickness for the external width
Thanks fish_stix

No, it's 13 3/4" outside to outside measurements. The thickness of the lumber is included in the measurement. I've seen them vary, depending on the manufacturer or builder, from 13 3/4" to 14" in outside dimension width.

Thanks RayMarler, much appreciated, so would 13 3/4" be for 3/4" timber?

Yes; 3/4" thick lumber. U.S. inches.
So that would make the internal width 12 -1/4 U.S Inches correct?
Does anyone know of plans for frames?
