CARROLLTON, Ga. -- A babysitter who admitted feeding an infant wine to get him to go to sleep has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

The sitter, 41-year-old Tammy Denise Truitt of Carrollton, pleaded guilty on June 2 to aggravated battery.

Carrollton Police Lt. James Perry said Truitt was hired to babysit the infant, who was 9 months old, and his four siblings, aged 9, 7, 5 and 3, last July when the children's mother went to Atlanta for a family emergency.

Police said that when the children's grandmother arrived, she found the baby unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital, where tests revealed a blood-alcohol level of .33.

Doctors in Carrollton and Atlanta treated the infant before sending him home.

Now that's just the saddest thing I've heard...pushing drugs (alcohol) on infants...I hope she gets what she deserves. If that would have been one of my kids she'd be long forgotten by now!

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

When I was a kid, my kids would take some tequila and rub it on kids gums when they had a toothache.

it really helps.  nowadays, parents would likely get jail time for that too.

Border line alcohol poisoning.   It is a hospital stay for a person.

Depends on the built up resistance.  For some one who doesn't drink .25 can be deadly. For the average person who drinks only occassionally .35 can be lethal.  But I've arrested very dedicated alcoholic's for DUI that had a BA of .48.   I had one who had a BA of .52 but he died of alcohol poisining later that night in the ER.

Maybe the whole family has real high drinking abilities.  They could get their corn from a bottle (or grapes).

I was probably Honey Vokda... i figured that .33 for an infant would be lethal.
