Do you use drone frames?

Drone frame, one style = 2 inch from foundation is clipped away, or better, you put Farrar foundation into Langstroth frame. Bees make drone cells and when broo are capped, you cut them away and catch 50% mites from hive.

Also drone cell building is in better order when bees have place to raise drones. Otherwise cells are everywvere.

So, how many of your use this method to kill mites?

I use two frames per hive. One in the lower box, one in the uppeer box. I paint the top bar of the frame green to make it easy to identify.

I use the pierco 1 piece frames and foundation, I was thinking about getting atlest 1 wood frame with a starter strip and putting it in my hives for drone brood, not useing wire or anything so I could cut out the foundation when capped over and put the empty frame back in the hive, but I see pierco makes a drone frame and all you have to do is put it in the freezer for 24 hours the put back in the hive, im going to do one of these before to long.

You don't need to cut it out. Just freeze it, scratch it, put it back in and the girls will do the rest (clean  it out I mean). Then they will continue to fill it with drone again and will not have to draw it all out a second time.

Keep another set to switch out when the first is in the freezer.

Freezing is a big job.

University of Holland says that uncap pupas and spray them out with garden hose . Dry in the air.

I have gived drone combs to birds. When they find drones they clear cells quickly.
