I have been beekeeping for quite a while. I got started when an 80 year old church member, John, who I had helped in his bee yard decided he was too old to continue. So he gave me his bees and equipment and I have enjoyed it ever since.
I am particularly proud of my smoker. It was John's fathers before him and has been in continuous operation for nearly a hundred years. So far the only maintenance required has been to replace the leather of the bellows, but I put beeswax/linseed mixture on it every year to keep the leather soft.

Well Brian, glad that you have become a beekeeper. It is loads of fun. Enjoy your bees and watch them.
I love to pull a chair up in the bee yard and just watch them come and go. I like to watch them fly in and out and try to see where they are going to and coming from.
Mason bees are fun too.

Hey,
Where in the piedmont are you located? I'm up in Wilkes County, about an hour away from Winston.
Cool story about your bees and equipment.

I'd like to see a pic of that old smoker in use.

Sorry to say that I don't so pictures. Technology and I barely get along. My camera, which I don't know where is, is a manual Pentax from the 70's.
