10 to 9 frames

I have a 10 frame hive, but removed 1, so there are 9 frames now.  The reason why I did this is because I went from TBH to longstroth hive and TBH combs are a little bit thicker.  When I put 10 frames, there was no room between the combs.  I know it's not a big deal, but I'm still interested in your opinions.  I'd rather be safe then sorry.  Also, if you could let me know how much space should be between the frames.

Normal frame spacing is 35 mm. Wew multiply 10 x 35 = 35 cm.

Then the box should have extra space between comb and the walls.  It is at least  5 + 5 mm.  Again more  10 mm is not bad to move the frames.

Frame shoulders get resing and it makes frames tight to lift. Loose dimensions are better than tight.

are you using frames or top bars?

3/8 inch, 9MM, is what is known as bee space. That is the space from one comb to the next. Adjust to near that and the bees will make the final adjust by adding or removing wax.

Bee keeping for dummies suggest's using 9 frames in a 10 frame hive. I believe he's talking about the honey supers only though.

my hives are nine frames in the deeps. the beek i bought them from did all his hives that way. i'm not an expert by any means, but have noticed no problems.
