Positioning a TBH
«

Newbie here. I have purchased, yes purchased, a tbh from Christine-Gold Star. I know about 'why not build one yourself', but that would take me til next year and my dh, who can build anything, is really not into bees and he's way too busy. So I threw money at it and boy am I happy. The kit was spot on accurate and easy to build.
So now for the question - should the entrance face north, south, east, west? Does the hive need to be level...like in 'use a level' to make sure? I'm getting the bees in May, so I can move it easily now.
Thanks for any help

Ideally, the entrance should face east, or slightly south east to they get the morning sun asap. Yes it should be level, level, especially with a TBH and no foundation.

Thanks Mike. This is very helpful. Basically, I've got to turn the hive around and set the legs all over again. Important to get as much done correctly, since I know that I'll mess up other stuff unintentionally.
