bees swarming my deer corn
«

I have been putting corn out for deer hunting for about a month now, but now the bees have decided that it is the best thing ever and are on a desperate scramble to get at it. little by little they are emptying my feeder as they scramble around the corn. Anything I can do? I will post more photo's on my blog. We would also love to have a beekeeper put bees on our land in exchange for honey.

How are they getting to the corn? I assume they are after the dust on the corn? Update your profile locations help in giving advice

Welcome to the Forum bigchambers. It sounds like you have a beekeeper already on your property, YOU. All you need is a few pieces of equipment and a package of bees and you are set to get into a fascinating hobby that will suck you in and give you a great learning experience that can be passed down to future generations. Your knowledge that can be taught to future beekeeps and their impact on the environment is invaluable.

They are using it as a pollen substitute. It is not uncommon for them to work bird feeder either when there is no real pollen available.

We are located in East texas and they spilled my entire five gallon bucket of corn onto the ground in one day.

I would bet your Deer Corn has a sweetener coating to help draw in the Deer.

You should have seen them on my grain bin back in November.
