Do people really fall for this...ermm...stuff?? Now I understand this is NPR and expected, but how can anybody even begin to regard this as objective reporting? Can't they see this is a part of the reason we're so skeptical? (I mean other than the truth :) )
They feeding this to robots? As I listened to the story on my way home from work, I kept waiting for the kicker. So global warming is causing these floods, right? A catastrophic glacial collapse perhaps? I figured that there was a connection to global warming on this story, because that is what the story was about. The whole story -blaming all this on global warming, the human suffering, this never happened before, it must be caused by global warming, that evil gas in our atmosphere.
Then the story started wrapping up to the end....
The demand for coca, for example, has led trafficking groups to clear forested areas in Colombia, thus setting the stage for erosion that makes flooding more likely and severe.
So I listened to the whole stinking program wondering how global warming, and they tell me it is because a bunch of drug lords killing the jungle? That is DEFORESTATION BECAUSE OF DRUG CONSUMPTION NOT GLOBAL WARMING!! I don't know if these people have IQ of a fig, but any idiot can tell that those are different issues. Whackos sniffing lines compared to a temperature change.
Sheesh. I don't know when they'll stop.
I just saw a tree move in the wind. <gasp> We know that groups of monkeys can make trees move like that SO WATCH OUT, WE'RE FACING GROUPS OF RAVAGING MONKEYS!!
