Good for him and his family
Still a few things strike me as odd about the story though
But glad all my doom and gloom predictions were incorrect

keith

What about this story seems odd Keith? Seems pretty straight forward to me. Yes, according to his sister I believe it was, his girlfriend broke up with him and may have broken his heart or perhaps it didn't bother him as much as his sister believes.

Seems to me he may have been upset and wanted to hunt alone or he just wanted to go deeper where he was less likely to experience hunting pressure thus increasing his chances for bounty. Obviously he was wrong to go off alone in a place he was unfamiliar with.

Seems he was a strong willed individual we will hear his own words soon.

I watched the video of the hunter he went with just some of that guys comments struck me as odd

"I didn't really know him"
"He went off on his own"
"We fired a bunch of shots to try and find him"

I don't know I just know i'm going hunting in the morning and if i lose somebody I will react differently i guess

Maybe i'm reading into it to much. Glad the kid is safe

One more thing to add about gators. Remember this is the Florida everglades much warmer there than where I am in Louisiana. The peak time of day there gators were most likely out sunning themselves. Some may say gators are mostly nocturnal but I have seen plenty following me around in broad day light while bow fishing from the shore. Each time I shot at a fish they were attracted to the splash and would investigate. Couldn't imagine being in the water splashing around in the everglades, that's like ringing the dinner bell.

Down here and I'm sure there as well you have specific alligator seasons and it has to be done on leased or private land with a special permit. You can kill just about anything with a well placed bullet in 22 caliber, but I have no idea what these deputies were packing for protection.

Some details: He was delirious (to be expected) when found and thought it was Tuesday, caught and ate a catfish and drank swamp water to survive. Lost his shotgun swimming in a canal. Covered in mosquito bites and has an injured ankle. Someone insists he told the rescue team he wanted to walk out on his own.

I've heard of people being found naked after being lost in woods, not sure why exactly, could be due to delirium.

I know one of the symptoms of cold exposure is heat flashes. you get so cold you think your hot. its why a lot of frozen people are found without clothes on or they take off thier jackets

But like Annette said, south florida this time of year, he probably got hot walking around then didn't feel like carrying them with him and ditched them

He will apparently tell his story some time today. Annette, dogs are amazing. Years ago I worked for a company that used beagles to sniff out termites underneath concrete foundations. It was simply amazing to watch them work and with around 80% accuracy, through concrete!

I have watched them use those beagles at the San Francisco Airport when we were coming back from overseas.  The little doggies would walk all around sniffing the bags that came off the conveyor belt and then they found something and just stood still.  The officials pulled those suitcases off the belt.

Do you have another link to the updated story??
