Build it, and they will comb.

Got a call from a farmer who was surprised to see a swarm on a tree near his house this late late in the year. Described it as the size of a 1 gal milk jug.

I'm figuring a hive absconded due to SHB.  I've got to decide if I want to get it by noon tomorrow.

Any chance these guys will live thru the winter? Even if I feed them?  Should I bother to drive an hour and half to pick them up?

Remember, I'm in Texas. We don't have winter. Just early summer, high summer, later summer, and 2 months of fall.

i would say that you have a pretty good chance of saving them if you have drawn comb to put them on and you feed the heck out of them.
