making a thymol based liquid

I have someone in a local club that has made a liquid that is thymol based and is using it as a way to take care of varroa. I don't want to ask this person for their recipe but I am sure it is thymol/eucalyptus etc in a FGMO. If anyone has used this and can share some resources for purchasing thymol and/or a "resipe" I would greatly appreciate it. I know Apilife VAR smells identical to this liquid and I am hoping i can make an affordable formulation for 20 hives for next year.
