It's a hen and she's doing just fine.

A pair of hawks raided a crow nest.
This fella managed to roost on a branch near enough to my brother for him to catch it.
Actually the chick just let him take it.
It was nearly starved and dehydrated.
So after a whole hot dog and a bowl of water she perked up.

I remember doing that! I love that gobbling baby crow eating sound! I hear em all the time following their parents around our neighborhood begging. The chickadees have cute little sounds too. It's fun to watch em pester Mom & Dad!

He was probably happy someone came along to pick him up.
Would have thought hot dogs would have been a little spicy, but beggers can't be choosers. Glad you gave him a chance.
