Looks like we're exploring for oil at home. My bet is that his party won't turn on him, but will tout the virtues of his clear leadership through difficult choices.

Actually there's a steady stream of harsh criticism of Obama from the extreme left on all kinds of things - abortion rights, single payer health care, treatment of foreign prisoners, nuclear power, and of course environmental issues.  They think that his position is too centrist on those and others.  Imagine that.

That's interesting to know Dave, I haven't seen any coverage that went terribly critical outside of a couple of quotes within the article.
I'll keep an eye for it.

perhaps we could not refer to some of us as "teabags"?  although i suppose it is better than teabaggers.

he has opened some areas to exploration.  he closed other areas.  the net area is smaller than what bush had wanted.  there is also a difference between exploration and actual drilling.  i am afraid this is more of a feel good action.  we shall see.

More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....

That doesn't really surprise me either. I didn't see that coming, but it seems like no sound thinking out of Washington comes without some kind of factionist tainting.
