In a couple of weeks we'll be picking buckets of blueberries from that spot for syrup on homeade ice cream. We'll pick crowberries to give to our native friends that will exchange for bristol bay sockeye salmon.
Mostly we just love the hike up and back, we walk from our house to the trailhead 2 blocks away.

How warm does it get in the summer where you are?
I had never heard of crowberries, do they taste like blueberries? Do you process them for jams?
I took the kids blueberry picking the other day and we ended up picking 20lbs of berries.
I am going to make jam today.

Hello Natalie........ I think where you live is wonderful..... I spent two months there working on a medical project back in 96 and really enjoyed myself. We've have had 11 days over 70 this summer, a record! Normally we stay in the middle of the 60's pretty cool and often rainy by this part of the summer. We''ll be picking buckets of blueberries in two weeks. The crowberries appeal to the natives mostly. I find them rather tasteless, it's called akutaq in inupiat.
