wasn't it in the movie Gattaca where the implanted chips were read by street scanners as people moved about?  i know it's been done in other movies as well.  i see that in the not to distant future.  it will be some kind of upgrade offered to people as "safer" than carrying a card that can be read by others.  it will have some kind of unique feature that will keep people from having personal info scanned by any except those autorized.....

hey....i have my communications device.  i am happy.  scifi comes to an electronics store near you  grin

that's the one where Gary Sinise is the assassin? I was thinking of that movie as I read the article. Just couldn't think if the name of the movie.

But really, what does it matter? As long as we are obeying the law we have nothing to worry about.

My mom likes to say something about the Bible tells us to obey the laws of the land, and I always ask her, "But what about when it is illegal to read the Bible?" She never has an answer. Undecided

Now JP, even the Bible predicts the outlawing of Christianity. So do we then violate the laws of the land?

the bible, and any other reading, needs to be read in context.  not only the context of the words, but the context of the times and writers.  also, if you are really having a problem reconciling bits of scripture (or any other writing) it is best to go back a look at the original language.  while a translation may be literally accurate, it can often cause a slight shift in meaning.  the word Nephilim is a great example.

then, of course, you have the argument between moral law and secular law....remembering that jewish law was both the law of the land for the jews and the moral law  grin   evil

I believe you'll always be able to pick up and read the bible, if you want to Jerry.
