I thought we already did that.
Cyclical. Not man made. Nothing we do will make a difference.

I'm bored, and I know this topic will bring out the entertaining debate, so let's get it on! Global warming and cooling has been happening for millions of years now, it's just that we now are silly enough to think that we can control it. And from another perspective, climate change has replaced religion and God for people who need/want to feel guilty about something.

If you going to discuss it, at least get the fact straight. It isn't called global warming any more...it's "climate change".

No no no. Global warming = man made = we can tax it Climate change = natural occurrence = nothing we can do about it. So don't tax me.

And the largest piece of evidence that it is not man made is that it's taking place on the other planets as well. Worst case scenario is that all of the efforts to combat it will be effective and bring on massive global cooling once the solar cycle passes.

"Global Warming' we can't do much about. Pollution, on the other hand, is a bad thing no matter how you look at it - and we can do something about that. What the global warming hysterics didn't understand was sooner or later the people were going to figure out they didn't have a clue of what they were talking about and the point that we should take care of our planet would be lost - and lose credibility, too. Idiots.

Exactly. There's also the little problem that we can't solve: knowing exactly what factors were in play during all the previous climate changes in the history of the planet. We can find certain evidence via ice core samples, but it really doesn't tell us enough to definitively say that human presence has any effect whatsoever on climate change.

You can make a case either way with so called facts. It really is such a political issue. The right doesn't believe it, the left does. Statistics can be skewed to the position you want to advace. I think with how inconsistant climate is no one can prove it either way. That being said, taxing the crap out of bussineses because of ifs and maybes is just another way of controlling the free market
There are lies, darn lies. and then there are statistics.

follow the money, and in this case, follow the power/control. who wins and who loses in this debate. free market loses. developing countries lose. consumer loses. governments, UN, and speech makers, win.

"Nay, it [this constitution of government] must perish, if there be not that vital spirit in the people, which alone can nourish, sustain, and direct all its movements. It is in vain, that statesmen shall form plans of government, in which the beauty and harmony of a republic shall be embodied in visible order, shall be built up on solid substructions, and adorned by every useful ornament, if the inhabitants suffer the silent power of time to dilapidate its walls, or crumble its massy supporters into dust; if the assaults from without are never resisted, and the rottenness and mining from within are never guarded against. Who can preserve the rights and liberties of the people, when they shall be abandoned by themselves? Who shall keep watch in the temple, when the watchmen sleep at their posts? Who shall call upon the people to redeem their possessions, and revive the republic, when their own hands have deliberately and corruptly surrendered them to the oppressor, and have built the prisons, or dug the graves of their own friends?
– Justice Joseph Story, "Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States," Volume II, Chapter XIII: Mode of Passing Laws, Sections 900-901, pp. 364 (1833)

If you create enough fear, about enough things, you can get anybody to do anything.
Globe Warming is Fear Mongering. It is nothing more that cyclic climate change, it's been going on for Millions, maybe even Billions of years.

the whole of earth was a jungle around the time of the dinosaurs. then there was a modest cooling trend around 12000 years ago... It was consumerism causing both I'm sure of it (And you can guarantee some pseudo-scientist would try to make it man's fault somehow.) Kilimanjaro is recovering it's ice cap, the polar bears are fine, I think my house was supposed to be beachfront THIS YEAR.

purely anecdotal evidence, but it's July 1 and New York is freezing:
It doesn't alter your point by much...But it's only June now.
