What do you pay for a pound of sugar? I buy it from a local bakery and pay 32 cents a pound.

32 cents a pound is darn cheap. I'll have to try that.
Otherwise, check your sunday papers for coupons and combine them with a grocery store sale for ultimate savings. I bet I can get my sugar cheaper than 32 cents a pound if I can get a fist full of coupons and a good sale at the same time.
Otherwise, sugar in Massachusetts is usually between .60 - 90 cents a pound

I spend about .40 cents per pound at the grocery store - 5 pound bag for nearly $2. But sometimes it's buy one get one free..... I buy many then.

40 cents. I get a 5 lb bag for $1.99.
Sometimes, they do have the -buy 1 -get 1 free, but I don't pay attention to the supermarket flyers that much.
I did hear a good story awile ago from one of the oldsters beekeepers was talking about the buy 1 get 1. He was told that he could only get 6 5 lb bags each week of the sale . So he went back to the store in a disguise 3 times that week!
