Y'all, I've broken my foot. I have a recently-caught swarm in a bucket trap in a public place (about 3lb bees). North-side of Tucson Arizona, in the town of Catalina...... If you want them (or know someone who does), I'll post the exact location. I also have another small (about 1.5 lb) caught swarm living in a cardboard box on my property (2wk old). If you are so inclined, I will give them to you as well. I already have two other hived colonies -- I won't be able to hive these two new ones right away due to a recent foot fracture. Interested? ~ Cheryl

well my sister mailed back and said, no, she's a little skittish about handling them herself. I hope you find a prospect - I bet saguaro honey would be great.

I contacted a second sister in Tucson about the bees without mentioning (to prevent false hopes) She also declined; well she called me tonight to say that she had 2 swarms show up in her yard! actually - one of the swarms may have been issued by a possibly established feral hive under her shed. of course I asked her "So, they showed up FOR you and you STILL don't want to have a hive?" (she's worried about ahb) I had a nice chat with her, and upon sensing that I had nearly bored her to tears, I excused myself from the phone call.

Gosh, I wish there was someone in your area who wants bees. Any other way you can find other beekeepers? Does your Agriculture Dept have a swarm list or something? Any beekeeping associations out there you know of with members who would take them???

I think I'll be able to handle these now. I've got a good walking cast, and am surprised at the mobility I have. I actually worked my bees today. I went to transfer one of the colonies I had up for adoption, and decided it was way too hot to keep. Definitely AHB, and I don't have a remote bee yard for nasty bees to be their mean selves. Anyhow, I eliminated that colony. I wouldn't wish them on someone else! I did get almost a kilo of capped honey out of the deal, though (from their brood combs). They'd been in a cardboard box for scarcely a month. Seriously, they were really hot bees.
