CBNNews.com - WASHINGTON -- Today is the last day for the public to weigh in on whether it backs the Obama administration's decision to wipe out the conscience clause.

The conscience clause is the regulation the Bush administration created to protect pro-life medical professionals, because so many have been facing discrimination.

it does not matter what people say.  he has made his decision.  before bush signed that order, doctors who would not prescribe, or pharmacists who would not fill, "morning after" pills were being sued or threatened with loss of job.

there was not such a big deal about abortions in hospitals and clinics.  that may change now.  there are several groups out there that want abortion on demand, to mean just that.  they want doctors and hospitals to be made to provide the service. they were working on this before the bush protection.  they will work harder now because they will have been successful in getting this president to lift the protections.

The patient doesn't have a choice if the pharmacist refuses to fill the prescription. Yes, maybe the patient could go to another pharmacy, but maybe the patient doesn't have a way to do that, and time is of the essence.

now they can.  with no law to protect them, it's called refusal of services and they can be sued and/or fired.

even the dinkiest backwater town that i have been in, has more than one pharmacy or pharmacist there or close.  that is a poor excuse for forcing someone to do something that is against their conscience.
