Two coworkers, very stable minded men who travel deep into the wood of our military base were driving, one fellow is part of a bluebird preservation program and tracks birdbox acitivity....

They were 5 miles deeper in the wilderness than my power plant is and as the turned the corner down a dirt road on the way to the furthest bluebird box, about 200 feet in front of them, a near perfect circle of virgin earth about 50 foot round rose up in the air (not like gas or something lifted the center forming a cone then popped - but the entire circle of land about 10 feet think rose up all at the same time untl it was visible underneith with about a 4 foot clearance below the layers of topsoil, sand and gravel, held it's place for about 4 to 5 seconds and then collapsed back into place, leaving nothing more than what looked like a shovel had carved out the large circle perimeter. The one fellow took a shovel handle and pushed it down with on hand until it buried at the shovel - he swears if he had a 10 foot rod it too would have easily slide where the land rose.

Has anyone ever heard of this before? I've seen sink holes, even saw captured on TV gas build ups, but the patteren of just raising up and litterally floating or (shifting from climbing to falling appeared to be hovering) for 5 seconds before just falling back in place.

There is nothing out there, old roads that lead to base fishing holes and soon to be connecting roads from two other bases; McGuire and Fort Dix will both come that way. But this was in a field, off to the side a few hundred feet from the roads when nothng was ever there.

Wondering if anyone EVER hear of this - btw, no smell of natural gas, decomposed matter or anything and the ground was as solid as it was before this amazing sight.

I believe fully in their story, both very credible guys - and not the kind to make up tales.

You work on "area 51" right? lol Never heard of such a thing. Sink holes I have seen have just collapse under the weight of a tractor tire or simply fallen in one day cant imagine why any earth would lift up into the air.

They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved.....

Well google earth has to be used for this, where we talking? NJ?

A. Something to do with an old mine.

B. Something to do with underground explosion, see above or military.

C. Earthquake of sorts.

D. Gas escape.

E. Pulling your leg.

Anyways, Id report it to the local Uni or Rock Doctors and go and have another look. Im guessing if it did happen, then the circle will subside over time.

Has anybody gone back to verify and take pictures?

If it really happened, then I think that there would be a burning curiosity to find out what caused it.  That would be some powerful stuff....

I really don't know, the fellows aren't directly part of my shop and we are issolated in restricted areas here - The only thing (besides soil samples) that I can think of is probing the land along the whole parimenter to see if it is easily penitrated all the way along, digging anything up would simple destroy the evidence I think.

None of us have accessibilty to that area and even if we did, all we'd see what (according to the guys) is what looks like a shovel/spad mark barely visible in that 50ft circle.

Strange things happen on this Navy Base: I have mentioned two that happen to me in previous posts, this one was by far the eeriest: after 9-11 us boilermen were escorted from building to building by security as we made our rounds.

I entered HANGAR ! ( the huge hanger the Hindenburg was stowed 12 times in 1936) and where the bodies of those killed on May 6, 1937 - interior wise, little has changed, it is somewhat used for storage today, but I had no choice but to enter through a distant door well over 250 feet from the boiler room, after midnight and with little lighting to go by - I walked toward the boiler room, and in mid stride - SOMETHING grabbed my shoulder and spum me around and no one was there!

I had enough light to see all 800ft long anf 240 feet wide hangar space and no one was ther. The hand felt huge and powerful, I was turned 180 defrees in a split second and no one at all was anywhere in the hangar with me.

I raced (literally) to the boiler room and stayed there a few minutes, finall peaking out the see if the coast was clear (which is foolish knowing I didn't see anything the first time, why would I now) but hurried back to my truck and continued making rounds.

I had never experienced a ghostly encounter before, but I see on all the Ghost Hunter like shows that physical contact is a huge notch up from sounds, etc. I have had no further experiences like that one, and hope not to either!!!

  OK two thoughts;
I know the Navy demagnetizes new ships and to do it takes some heavy duty electromagnets maybe if there was a lot of iron in that particular patch of ground and they were testing some equipment.
Thought number 2 is a little far fetched but if this were true the military being what they are would not of abandoned this without tyring to refine it.
maybe there was some thing there they just couldn't see.

Just dropped in on the Lakehurst/ Ft Dix area on google earth. Some really cool stuff in the photos. Even regular grid patterns in the weeds in the ponds, sharp color changes in the soils of the roads, long straight parallel roads, even some overlays in some areas of the picture.
Does Jersey have a checker board fixation or something? They even have neat squares in some wooded areas. Maybe a Christmas Tree Farm?
The color changes and overlays are probably to remove something they don't want looked at. But the grids in the weeds just look weird.

I was dropped into Camp Clayton over Easter, covert ops and all that. I am back home now and can report on the matter at hand.

For the record....

There are obvious signs of mining, military activity past and present, all sorts of shyte going on down there at Camp Clayton.

Trip courtesy of Google Earth.

Seroiusly tho, an eruption of methane gas is the answer. Trapped, formed, developed in an old shaft. Just the right combination of pressure, soil moisture etc, whoosh up she goes, crumpff down she goes. There will be a depression left in that area in time, it might match some of the ones currently showing at Camp Clayton.

Just an update and a few thoughts:

I've seen enough shows on making crop circles to know all you need to make a perfect circle is a stick in the center and a rope extending out to the radius, attach something sharp to it and walk around and you surely could make the illusion that a perfect circle was there.

Then pound a rod in the ground to form a deep hole, mark it with a near by stone or rock and show someone how you can submerce a long stick into the ground at a spot or two which you setup to appear as random.

But back to Google Earth, etc.. Type 08733 (our zipcode there) look the neat stuff including the giant moon shaped ( and I mean just like the moon ) "Jump Circle". When looking around you'll see a series of 4 mile long tracks where JET ENGINES hurdle down long railroad tracks to be tested, a smaller "T shaped" landing strip and a hugely long runway which is an alternate Space Shuttle Landing Site.

Another thing, you see a series of BLACK seni-trapizoidal ponds, they were a very large Cranberry Bog, supplier to Ocean Spray. Checkout the TOWN of LAKEHURST in comparison to the other objects - Lakehurst is Triangular (kinda, with a nice lake) and 1 square mile worth of square feet.

Just a show around my area. Go to the South and East a little and you'll see a very long emerald green looking lake, that was known as Asarco Mining where they removed minerals from the water, leaving it that funky color - I'm located in a small housing development about the Eastern side of the Asarco Lake just south of Route 37, near the railroad tracks. Very wooded, small neighborhood, nice homes and great neighbors and only 6 miles from work Smiley

P.S. Mick, I don't know.... Some capped over silo, covered decades by wonderful topsoil, methane is a very big product around here and that area isn't to far from what was the Lakehurst Dump a few decades back - not to forget up until WW2, Lakehurst also had a mortar and bombing history - I have told the story, very true story of my father digging up a live 75mm mortar shell under our propane tank (of all places) when we built our back porch on to the property - that clean-fill had been made available long ago and someone grabbed up a truckload and buried it around our house, maybe to buildup topsoil, who knows our old house was over 160 varified years old.

Hey Beemaster, do they still have the mock flight deck set up in Hangar 1?  I went to Navy Parachute Rigger school there back in the 80's.  Used to hear stories about how the hangar was haunted.  One story about an Airship Pilot that roamed the place.  Amazing how huge it is.  We made many morning PT runs on some of those old roads that go way back in the woods.  Lakehurst is a very intriguing place.

Yes... the Deck Simulator is still there, but now houses a DRONE AIRCRAFT SIMULATOR which is a prototype sim for flying full sized aircraft CREWLESS into any situation. Sort of CHOSE A PLANE TYPE, and take off from anywhere in the World.

Hangar One is a massive place, anyone who sees it from a short distance and sizes it up compared to the two hangars next to it plainly see the great scale Hangar One truly is. I know my own experience in there, I've seen it snow in there on starry nights, everyone that is in there as often as I am have some story to tell.

I'm going to screen capture a Google Earth shot of the hangar and the field to the West where the Hindenburg crashed and everyone can get an idea of how big the Hindenburg was - I'm amazed everytime in the hangar, the tracks for mooring are still there, the sky crane used to center it as it was towed in, even the massive sizes of the doors 200ft tall and back in 1937 manually opened by 24 men who cranked a massive spoked wheel shape turn-shaft atop the hangar to open the doors. Seriously interesting place to have visited or trained in, glad you got to see it first hand.
