Busting at the seams
«

My wife and I did some routine inspections and found one of our hives busting at the seams. Two deeps full clear out to the edges. We added another deep and moved some frames around. Lots of stores still around the brood itself. Lots of Drones, and good brood pattern and various stages of development. Didn't see the queen but each frame I pulled was loaded with bees. Wondering if I missed some queen cells (none seen). We moved most of the outer stores (honey) into the upper box, and gave the queen some empty combs for space to lay in. Probably should split the hive soon, weather is going to get bad again the first of the week. Thoughts on the splitting? Or should just use strong hive to bring in more honey.

If you can head off swarming you'll get more honey if you don't split.
