first swarm of the year

bees in one hive were acting foolish for they last couple of days and they finally came out.we let them settle down and grabbed them out of a cedar tree in the bee yard.

Glad you were able to get them back. May I suggest you keep a bait hive or two in your beeyard. This way if they swarm they may just go to another box.
I've had it happen before and it happened to a budddy this past Friday. Brian Bray keeps bait hives out for swarms as well.

most often i find my greatest source of stress to be OPS ( other peoples stupidity )
It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

those are the gourds! i have swarm traps out now so i dont have to distroy anymore of my gourds this year. wife threatens me with a bee killing every time one gets into the gourds when the birds have babies.

Catfish, you could put a piece of old comb in a hive, could also put a little lemon grass as well, either or really.
