How much brood should I expect?

Its is mid March and I live in Massachusetts.  Temps are around 50 during the day but that is fairly recent.  Night temps are between 20-35 degrees.  How much brood should I expect to see in the hives at this point??

That depends on the bee numbers. They will only raise brood that they can cover during the night. They will expand pretty aggressively at this time. That is why chilled brood and seeing bees drag out some larvae is possible now and then. It may be nice during the day, but it's the nighttime temps that dictate cluster constriction, and brood area.

I saw very little evidence of laying today when I did an inspection of 2 of my hives. I saw the queen and the bees are bringing in pollen and there are honey stores still left. 

I will do a better inspection tomorrow of all my hives so that should tell me more.

Even if it is a two or three inch circle...you should have some brood by this time.
