Your first car and your dream car...

I thought this was supposed to be a fun forum? Here you are dredging up painful memories I'd rather forget.....

late 70's model Ford Ranchero.  Or as most people called it "a ford WHAT??".  This thing was the cat's meow.  Well...more like a hairball.  V8, straightpipe muffler, cap, 8 track, the whole 9 yards.  I didn't need to shower because I always ended smelling like exhaust anyway.   But it was useful for hauling stuff in the back.  I hauled everything in that car.  Almost...I think the only thing that was never in that vehicle was ..... a female!!

This was in the 90's. Now I suppose its an antique, but I'm sure it isn't any prettier because of that.

second one was an austin healy bug eyed sprite  http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1102545857047037834ZCdPuT  . Then my luck turned a dodge valiant was my third. Seems I kept blowing them motors up. LOL

Pictures are obvioulsy not mine, just for showing the cars. My dream car, 68 Ford Shelby GT500. mmmm  drool!!

 My first was a 61(I think) Ford Falcon. My Dad bought it for me for $150 and insisted I drive it. My foot was broke and in a cast, I was was strapping my crutches on my motorcycle and riding it to school. 20 miles, winter time.
 My favorite street car was a 66 GTO built to the hilt. Bring on that Mopar  Buzzbee!
 Favorite racecar was a Nova bodied late model.
 I raced motorcycles flattracking growing up. My first love. Lost a lot of girlfriends cause they couldn't understand that pitching a bike with no brakes sideways at 80-100 MPH was a bigger rush than getting to kiss them goodnight. Then I found a girl that's Daddy was a race car owner. a year later, I was married and driving stock cars.
 Now it's anything that's paid for, reliable and will haul bees.

 I now have to add that my wifes first was a red 65 ford falcon convertable nicknamed the "Little Red Rag" Then she had a 67 GTO that actually had the adacity to go up against mine one night with the next owner. Then her favorite and the one she wouls like to have back. A 72 Chevelle SS. She has an old red vette that is under a cover over at her Daddy's that hasn't been driven since repainted last year. Too much work for me to get in and out of it.

My first car was a'28 Model A Ford stripdown. Previous owner cut the body off behind the front seat and welded a 3 ft pickup bed on. No fenders of course and had later model fat tires in place of stock. I am not that old, just saw it in a junk yard, got my Dad to tow it home and took a while and lots of learning to get it running. This was in the early 60s and I was 13. We lived next to a national forest in AZ with all sorts of old logging roads that I could and did explore until I got my first license at 14. Never did register it and my folks sold it when I went into the service.
Wish I had it back to let my grandson learn about cars like I did.

Dream car would be one that is powered by a fuel cell so when gas gets to a bazillion dollars a tankful I could still get around cheap.

Steve McQueen is my favorite actor and Bullitt one of my favorite movies.  Too bad he he gone.  I got my picture take at his star on the walk of fame in Hollywood a few years ago.

i never got to drive my 63 falcon,  an uncle borrowed it while i was out of state and hit a deer with it,  that was my first car,  then i was given a 69 rambler american,  i wouldnt wish that picture on you if i had one it was one of those if you can get it started you can have it deals,  made it half way home and then towed it the rest of the way cause the clutch went out.  dream ride fully restored late fifties or early sities pickup any american make
