hope one of you mechanical types can help me.
i have a hot walker with a variable speed motor. one of the belts broke and i can not find the same on the 'net. the belt says varidrive and varibelt on it. i found a veribelt company, but can't find the belt.
it also says USEM with the numbers 6-142-6849 and 2-M 50
the belt is just under 1 1/2 inches wide, 28 in long, and cross ribbed inside. i have found companies that have v-belts, ribbed v-belts, etc. but don't seem to be able to find this belt. most seem to be made for cars and this one is pretty heavy duty.
any ideas?
i can post pics if that helps

Auto parts or Hardware store and take the old one with you. They have a device for measuring belts (even broken ones). What you need is a fractional horsepower belt rather than an automotive belt, the angle of the V is different.

i have tried it by number, company, keywords, etc. just can't find the thing. i think you guys are right, i'll have to go in and let someone eyeball it for me. there are some companies in portland that advertise variable speed motors, so they may know what i need. the thing is 15 years old so that may be why i can't find it by number.

You can take it to a heavy equipment dealer such as Cat.,John Deere (Not tractors) their belts for equipment is a lot different than auto belts.

Every manufacturer has their won inventory code, a auto parts or hardware store should have an manufacturer's cross reference. Like NAPA to GM to Ford, to Chrysler to Parts Plus to etc.

this is not off a car. it's off my horse hotwalker variable speed motor. i have looked up the belt by the numbers on the belt, but no go. i will go to a motor place in town as soon as i get a chance. no luck on line, but i think they don't make the same belt and i will have to find equivalent.

I think your best bet would be to go to a belt supplier and match it. Also places that sell pulleys, gears, bearings, and such.
