What's deadlier, Doctors or Guns
« on: February 17, 2009, 02:14:18 AM »
Got this in my email, thought it worth discussion.

Doctors vs Guns
(A)   The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B)   Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C)   Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.  Source:  Courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.

Now think about this:  Guns
(A)   The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes that's  80 million)
(B)   The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is  1,500.
(C)   The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.  Statistics courtesy of FBI.

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than  gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.   :needhelp:

We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!   :pinkelephant:
Life is a school.  What have you learned?   :brian:      The greatest danger to our society is apathy, vote in every election!

Brian, you could add a lot more to your list such as,
exposure to smoke, fire, flames
poisoning & noxious subst's
these all caused more accidental deaths than guns I just looked them up, but the anti gun people don't want to recognize anything but the guns, maybe we should outlaw cars and swimming to.

I think I said this somewhere before but.....

You know there are those people that have driven for a long time and never had accidents. Then there are those that seem to have a mishap every few months. And people everywhere in between the two extremes. There should be a study on the differences of these people's driving habits/abilities and see if it is something that can be taught/untaught. (Perhaps genetic splicing )
