Death toll at 209, 2000 homes and a multitude of sheds and outhouses gone.

All 7000 homeless were found accomodation in hotels, motels, private housing and caravans within 10 days. The army tents are now empty, but remain in place just in case, as more hot weather is on the way.

We hardly have any bush left that hasnt been burnt in the last 25 years now. The sat pic shows the tale of destruction.

Tomorrow is a National Day of Mourning, a pity it wasnt on Monday so we could have a holiday. If you done get a day off for it, it doesnt mean much IMO. They are holding a service in the Tennis Centre, holds about 15000, with big screens etc outside, they could get 50,000-100,000 we will wait and see.

Mick,
The local country music club is holding a jam and fund raiser tomorrow, so remember even folk who are far from Melbourne are thinking of you, and I suppose it's because most people are off work anyway tomorrow that they are holding the day of mourning then.

How is Geoff going, have you heard?
