Finally was able to check my hive. I've rapped on the hive a couple of different times to see if I could hear them buzz. No buzz (forgot about the insulation Brian said to put inside). My beekeeping buddy said they should be taking cleansing flights. Clean snow. He said it sounded like a dead hive. So when the weather was pushing 50 the other day, I popped the lid and saw live bees. I felt like a little kid at Christmas. Two days later I'm still tinkled pink.
Brian, thanks again for tellling me how to arrange my small hive of 12 frames to get them through winter. Hopefully February won't be too hard on them.
