Its just a tad under 50c a toast 122f here, I usually poach eggs around that temp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half the state is on fire, no relief for at least 5 hours. Then the fires will shift 45-90 degrees and threaten more lives.

People will die today. Its not good.

Fire suspected to be started by a firebug. 47.5c currently, wind from the north at 35kts.

Sorry to hear that, Mick. We have hot weather here usually and you can have bushfires, but I suppose the vegetation is not so thick, and rocks don't burn too well.  When it gets hot eventually a storm builds up to dampen things down.  My folks are up the Calder there. 

We have had some fun with the flooding.  Here there has only been 10 inches of rain in 2 weeks, but on the far north coast they say about 40 inches and more coming.  Some people have had a lot more though.  Many roads are cut and houses isolated.  The bridge here was under for 5 days and they closed it again due to structural damage, so when the rail was clear the council organised supplies for the town.  They waited expectantly for the train-and when it was unloaded they found the supplies were 2 pellets of beer and a lawnmower.  Talk about a "wet" community!

The rain is washing away the pollen and nectar, and the bees are coming back empty footed.  Maybe I should get hold of some of that grog for them.

Dozens of houses lost in one town alone, I fatalaties unknown at this stage, crews cant get in.
