Well i just ordered 2 x 3# Packages of Italians and am paying $85 Dollars a package. I am very happy with the supplier as the bee's i had off him did very well.
I was wondering what everyone else was paying this year ?

I just paid for two packages (3 pound) at $75 each. Delivered to about 10 miles from the house.

I may be off here, but doesn't it seem unusual to ship a package from Ohio to NC when they come from the South or Cal. anyway? That seems like double the stress on the bees. |

I don't know anyone down south with carni packages. So they may be coming from Cali. Long way for sure. And for those who want a specific type queen line, I suggest getting a cheap package to start, keeping the shipping down, then using the saved money to purchase the queen type you want after they are established. |

I paid $95 for a 3# package with a marked queen and will be picking them up in Navasota. I haven't talked to them to see how the hurricane we had come through here last year (Ike) affected them.

Here is the email my supplier sent out.
The base price of a 3 pound package will be $90.00. The base price of a 4 pound package will be $105.00. If you want a marked queen it will cost an additional $2.50. Shipping cage deposits will continue at $5.00. When you add all of that together with state sales tax it comes to $102.65 for a three pound package with unmarked queen, $105.36 for a three pound package with a marked queen. If you don't specify we will assume you want unmarked queens. A four pound package with tax and shipping cage deposit will come to $118.93 with an unmarked queen and $121.64 with a marked queen.
We plan to have package bees available for pickup at our store on the afternoon of April 15, 2009 (a Wednesday) We won't know for sure about the pickup date until about a week beforehand. It all hinges on when the weather is warm enough for queens to get mated in Redding , CA.

I havn't heard packages yet, but a deep hive, 9 frame with new queen and brood, 115.00 pickup, packages seem to varie with supplier, last years supplier hasn't given me a price yet.

John i'm getting min from paris texas again. You have to pick them up but to be honest they seem to do very well where i;m at and out preformed the two nucs i got last year. so if there anything like what i got last year i should do well !
