I have run both styles of SBB. I see no diff in mite issues, but i do see issues when its hot and muggy in late july and they need a little help in reducing nectar or maintasing a cooler hive. Less bearding, less burrr comb, and as a result the SBB from betterbee work much better for ventilation control. I also use a vented cover. Yes its extra equipment, but for my backyard hives, fantastic.
